Letter #37 (August 3, 2009)

I had a lot of great things happen to me this week. I turned a year older...Well, maybe that's not such a good thing. On Saturday, my birthday I was able to witness 2 people who I taught in the Chapel Hill 1st ward get baptized. What a great birthday gift. I'm so happy for Kathy Walker and Steve Sizemore in their decision to draw closer to God. They had a glow after their baptism and their light was shining even more after they were sactified when they received the gift of the Holy Ghost. I have felt God's love tremendously. I know that He wants to be a part of my life. He wants to be our best friend but also a loving Heavenly Father.

Something amazing happened this week. I contacted a hispanic guy on the streets 4 months ago. I refferred him over the Spanish elders. We bumped into each other 2 weeks later and he asked why didn't I come over and teach him. I explained to him that I teach english-speaking people. I tried to get in contact with the spanish elders. They said that they're pretty busy at the moment. I felt good about Jose, but I couldn't teach him. Well, I saw him last Tuesday on the bus. He saw me and put both arms up in the air asking what happened to the missionaries. I got the message from God. He must be taught no matter what. Good thing that I was going on exchanges with the Spanish AP's the following day. We went over to Jose's place. He's from Mexico. He had a friend in Mexico who was a member. He always wanted to know about the Church. I was with Elder Hulse one of the Spanish AP's. He's from Idaho. A member from the ward came with us. He served his mission in Spain. I felt worried about my weak Spanish. But the lesson went amazing. Jose is an elect son of our Father. I felt the Spirit so strong. I taught a little and bore my testimony frequently. There was a reason why I kept bumping into Jose.

God is a God of miracles.
Love, Elder Olaya
