We were able to attend Stake Conference and be addressed by Bishop Burton, the Presiding Bishop of the Church. I love the stories he shared with us about the Prophets. I love the Prophets and the Apostles. They're great men and true witnesses of Christ.
I was able to go on exchange with one of the Assistants, Elder Henley. We worked in Chapel Hill. I actually replaced Elder Henley when I came to Chapel Hill nearly 9 months ago. We visited a recent convert named Brenda who he baptized. It was a great rejoicing for her and him. She was going through the most difficult time in her life since she had become a member. She had really bad health problems which was worsened by poor medical advice. Elder Henley came at the right time to visit her. We also had the Prietos with us. They're an amazing couple who are always helpful to the missionaries. We ended up giving Brenda a blessing. She looked like a new woman when I saw her on Sunday.
Corey, who got baptized in April received the Melchizadek Priesthood recently and was sustained during Stake Conference yesterday. It was good to see that he's doing so well. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before that he got married to Fabiola who introduced him to the Church. They got married about 2 months ago. Brother Kirby and Kathy (who was baptized in August) got married on Saturday.
Now that I think about it, I had a pretty good week. I've seen miracles, and I was able to see a lot of the recent converts that I taught in a meeting for recent converts and investigators before Stake Conference.
God has been great to me. He's always there when I'm feeling down. When I pray in humility and with a broken heart, His Spirit comforts me. I know that He's my Father and that His Son is my Savior. I know that Thomas S Monson is a Prophet. I love this work.
Love Elder Olaya
