Letter #57 (Dec. 28, 2009) - Leaving Chapel Hill

I'm leaving Chapel Hill after 11 months of great experiences and growth. I have felt the love of so many here in Chapel Hill. I have a great love for the people here. I served in the Chapel Hill 1st ward all but 6 weeks of the 11 months that I was in Chapel Hill. Now its time to move on and switch towns and languages.

I had a great week. We tracted into a lady named Lisa about 3 weeks ago and she said that she was looking for a church. She said that she use to go to our church when she was a young girl. She didn't seem ready or willing to meet up with us then. But we stop by her place on Saturday and she let us in. Her husband was home and she told us that her mother and her got baptized when she was younger. She has little knowledge about the Church. Lisa was asking her husband, who is a non-member, if he wanted to go to our church next Sunday. We could tell that she really wants the Church in her life. She wants her son (whose 8 months) to have a religion. We set up a return appointment with them. God led us to this family.

I had a great talk with my dad on Christmas day. He's in good spirits. Some of my great friends were there and I was happy to hear from them. God has been with my loved ones. He is a God of miracles!

I love this work and I know that its true.

Love, Elder Olaya

I've sent some photos. One of them is Jeff Z. at his baptism. The other one is when I had dinner at the Felbergs (Mark and Katie). They use to live in NYC. They now live in Durham.
