Letter # 60 (January 19, 2010)

I had another good week. There's an outstanding family in our branch called the Romeros. The Romero family have been very helpful to us in our missionary efforts. They're a great family with great faith in Christ. Earlier this week Liliana, their 17 year old daughter was unexpectedly diagnosed with Lukemia. That was a shock to the family and to the branch. She'll be in the hospital for atleast a month getting treatment. But, great is the faith of this family. Though hard this is for them, they have remained optimistic. My companion Elder Walker gave Liliana a blessing and I gave Hermano (Brother) Romero a blessing of comfort. The branch are strengthening them and she's in our prayers.

We're teaching a couple named Rosi and Jose. Rosi got baptized in El Salvador but went inactive shortly thereafter. She's still married to a man in El Salvador. Rosi and Jose want to get married, but they 1st need to get Rosi a divorce from her husband which she married for legal purposes. Then they have to get some papers to get married. We taught them a powerful lesson about faith and sacrifice. We committed them to live separately until they get married. Its going to be extremely tough considering that they have a 2 year old. But they're willing to pray and fast with us this Saturday to receive an answer. They're a great couple and would be good members once Jose gets baptized. I bore my testimony about God providing a way for the impossible to be accomplished. I told them about my situation about my dad and the sacrifice of going on my mission. May the Lord continue to strengthen them.

I love this work. God is a God of miracles.

Love, Elder Olaya
