Letter #70 (March 29, 2010)

It was another tough week.  So many appointments fell through.  It was probably the low point of my mission.  I prayed for comfort and faith on Saturday night.  The last 3 days I have been overwhelmed with comfort and joy from the Spirit.  We had a Zone leader/ District leader council.  I learned a lot and have greater faith in finding the elect.  I never been more focused to the serving the Lord.

A great moment in my life occurred last night.  We went over to members' home last night for dinner.  It was the Campos family.  They have 6 kids.  They were baptized about 5 years ago and the father is in the Branch Presidency.  The 23 year old daughter went on a mission, but their 20 and 21 year old sons that haven't.  Their 21 year-old son is named Daniel.  About 3 months ago Elder Walker and I went over to their home and Daniel was the only one home.  I knew that he never went on a mission and that he was a bit older.  I brought it up.  I bore testimony that its never too late to serve a mission and that it will bless his life.  I shared my experience of fasting many times to know if I should go on a mission despite me being older and my father being in a nursing home.  We offered to fast with Daniel to know if he should go on a mission.  Well, last night while we were with the Campos sharing favorite Book of Mormon scriptures, Daniel showed up.  He looked at me and told me that if I heard that he was "going".  I asked in hopeful shock, "Going where?"  He said that he's going on a mission.  He made his decision the night before.  I jumped up and gave him a hug. He thanked me.  I couldn't hold back my tears.  I cried, he cried.  His parents already knew from the night before, but also wept and shared their gratitude.  God is a God of miracles!  Thanks to the prayers of his family members, Daniel is going on a mission.
