Letter #30 (June 8, 2009)

We moved in with some other missionaries who live in our apartment complex. There's 4 of us living together. It rained a lot on some days. When it rains it pours! I never seen such heavy rain for for so long a period. They have an alright bus system down here. Its not at all like NYC. But it could take us a considerable distance. I really feel the love of the Chapel Hill 1st ward. They appreciate my service and I am grateful for their love for me. I know that my time in Chapel is winding down. I have 5 weeks left. Since Elder McPharlin has 1 transfer after this one, he's most likely staying his last transfer here while I get transferred somewhere else. Its going to be an exciting final 5 weeks here. I'm going to work even harder and look for greater miracles.

We're teaching some new people. One of them is named Kathy. There's a guy named Gary Kirby who we know from church that invited his friend, Kathy to church last Sunday. They're both nearly 50 years old. They use to date in high school and remained friends over the years. They both are divorced and are single. We had dinner with them on Saturday at another member's home. It went really well. Brother Kirby is a convert. So are the Swansons, the couple who's home we ate dinner and had a great discussion. We bore our conversion story. It was great. Kathy seems pretty interested and agreed to getting taught by us. This seems promising. She's been reading the Book of Mormon and she came to church yesterday.

All is well in NC. I've had some tough days this week, but Jesus Christ is my Savior. Prayer is Powerful!
Love, Elder Olaya
