Letter #49 (November 2, 2009)

It was an amazing week. Ruben got baptized yesterday. So many people from our wards showed up to his baptism. Elder Baker baptized him. Elder Baker knew Ruben since last year when he taught and baptized his mother. He currently serves in the Durham 5th Spanish branch. Ruben is a good kid. He enjoyed his baptism. He'll be a great addition to the Chapel Hill 2nd ward.

We're working with a guy named Jeff who is a friend of a member of our ward, Brother Smith. They go to Law School together. Brother Smith has been sharing his beliefs with him about the Church for the last 2 years. He's been to church about 3 or 4 times. We had dinner at the Smiths last Thursday. We invited him to take the discussions. He accepted. He has a good heart and is very kind. He was born in China but has lived in the states for most of his life. He has some doubts about God, but he really likes what the Church is all about. May the Spirit guide us as we teach pure doctrines and principle and bear pure testimonies.

The work is going well. We're working with several families on their family mission plan. We're excited for our areas. We're still looking for searchers of truth through our own finding efforts.

I know that this is the Lord's work. The Church is true.

Love, Elder Olaya
